YOUR PRIDE AND EGO
Most times, during the pursuit
of our dreams and aspirations, we all become increasingly overwhelmed with
ecstasy of joy especially when things start to turn out fruitful for us.
This emotional feeling of ecstatic
joy most times makes some of us lose track of our sincerity, and sometimes we forget the reason why we want the actualization of our dreams, because we feel
we are now on top of the world.
Pride and ego therefore secures a
permanent apartment in our heart, and we start to have a distorted look at
others who are not on the same level with us, forgetting that we also started
off from nowhere.
We don’t concern ourselves with what
people say anymore, we don’t heed to advises anymore because we feel we have
gotten to the peak.
Sometimes, we nurture our pride and
ego to the point that we try to prevent other dreamers from climbing up the
ladder of success.
We only want all the glory and
plaudits for ourselves and we constantly attribute the success we have achieved
to our sleepless night and hard work. #pathetic#
Maybe you have forgotten about the
guy next door who had also invested the same amount of time and energy like you
into the pursuit of his dream, and yet it didn’t materialize for him.
Could it mean that you are better
than him? Of course not…It’s only by the divine grace that you have been able
to achieve the success you enjoy. And you know it...
Hey there! Listen...The actualization of your dreams
does not define you to be the best among others; it only highlights you as
one of those rare gems who have broken through.
You need to realize that the best
time to suppress your ego and pride and be completely down to earth is after
the actualization of your dreams, because it’s at that time that your sincerity
will be truly tested.
And at that time, the most important
thing you should consider is how you will help others climb up the ladder of
success. Only then can you boast of being a determined dreamer.
There is a common adage in Yoruba
land which has proved this situation right over the years;
“You will never truly someone real attitude unless such person has broken through the blessings of wealth”.
Your pride and ego only makes you
suffer in isolation while the positive impact you have made in people’s life
makes them sing your praises always. Isn’t that more soothing?
And finally, for every determined
dreamer, you need to realize that people won’t recognize your struggle, they
will only recognize your success. So, you should also make it incumbent upon
yourself after achieving your goals, to stretch a lending hand to other
dreamers who are still behind that ladder of success.
