READ – The first of all commands
Once upon a
time, a young noble man was about to be commissioned with an assignment by the Lord of the Worlds, that
will eradicate all the evil vices that has taken ground on Earth
He was meant to deliver this divine message to the world at large which also entails (the unseen agents JINNS). You will agree with me that, this is the highest and most difficult assignment in the history of mankind.
The most
interesting fact about this is, on the night when this young man was
commissioned with this task, he was commanded as follows; READ! READ!
READ in the name of your Lord.
This has
always caught my attention and got me asking questions. How can the first
command towards such a hectic task be to be READ?
After a deep
rumination and sampling of opinions about this, I got to realize that the idea
behind that command was for the young man to seek knowledge before embarking on
such hectic task.
He did as he
was commanded and guess what? He was able to successfully accomplish the
assignment that was saddled to him, even though there were lots of obstacles.
But because of the knowledge he had accumulated, he was able to navigate
himself through all his hurdles.
I make bold
to say that up till this day, this command is still very relevant. In fact it’s
one of the reasons why the vast majority of folks out there have failed to
achieve a particular task at hand.
We complain
most times that we fail in the pursuit of our aspirations, even though we have
the necessary potentials and passion required to successfully achieve them.
The young
man cited earlier also had the potentials needed to be a leader, and the
passion to eradicate immorality on earth. But because The One who commissioned
him with that assignment knew that the first and most important thing needed by
this young man was to first seek knowledge about the task at hand.
The same
thing applies with every one of us. When we aim at successfully achieving
something, the first thing we must do is to gather all necessary information and
knowledge that are directly attached to those aspirations. Then your potentials
and passion will help enhance you more into the successful achievement of those
aspirations.
So, like it
was commanded in the beginning to READ, you should also make it incumbent
upon yourself to READ each time you have an aspiration you want to
pursue, and trust me – it will be a success.
Note: The
man cited in the example is the one and only beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW). In
him lies the perfect example that can be imitated.
